Meet Mehboob Khan
Pakistan’s eccentric chef didn’t become a judge and a consultant on the first season of MasterChef Pakistan just because he’s a celebrity, and an actual chef, in his field. He’s a triple heavy weight champion with over two decades worth of experience with the crème de la crème of Pakistan.
With his rebellious charm and absurdist wit, he chose the culinary field where he found what made him tick. Some even may say food is his first love. How else would he have had the extensive amount of training in all of the top hotels in Karachi? Not to mention his own hotel with a restaurant. Khan has always been an entrepreneur.
Khan’s comfort in front of the camera proved to resonate to the other side of the screen, where marketers and brand managers realized his potential, before even he did. Projects, brand ambassadorship, creation of products, you name it, he was in it and doing what he did best. Shine. That’s funny, because one of his most favorite movie is The Shining, but let’s not get into that… Let’s continue.
Like most 21st century chefs, or at least it should be so, he understood that we as people need to eat healthy, but never having the taste buds bored. For this very reason, he was the first have a health oriented cooking show and to have content driven ratings, something which some may argue is lacking in today’s television.
Mehboob has family homes in Peshwar and Karachi and loves the regional and cultural traditions of Pakistani food. He brought this passion and knowledge to life with the series National Ka Pakistan, which took him traveling around Pakistan cooking regional cuisines for the nation.
As time went on, he kept doing what he did best. But there was some void, something needed a jolt. His food was great, his work was fantastic, fans loved him (which include major brands across Pakistan), but there was still something missing. He couldn’t put his finger on it till one day a friend called him and asked to meet him. A health proposition was made to bring a unique idea to Pakistan. Without much though invested, he said yes.
Now let’s recap. Extensive experience and training. Fantastic TV cooking. Great brand ambassadorship. Health, health and some more health. MasterChef Pakistan. All summing up to this point in his career which brings him to be one of the Directors for the Health Act. Pakistan’s first health company.
